Leading Companies Choose EDHEC for Executive Education

Published on March 18, 2008

While EDHEC Business School is known around the world by students interested our Masters programmes, our range of executive programmes is also known by leading companies who approach us for top-level management courses that are tailored to their needs.

EDHEC Executive is a unit within EDHEC Business School that provides in-house training and advanced post-experience management courses to top-level managers of well-established international companies.  Air France-KLM, EDF, Arcelor, Bonduelle, Caisse d'Epargne, Auchan, Leroy-Merlin, La Poste and Renault are all regular clients whose executives benefit from EDHEC's Executive courses, all tailor-made for the company and situation at hand.

More than 2000 executives enjoy EDHEC Executive eduaction courses every year and 80% of companies return to EDHEC for further courses. This success is largely due to the ongoing teaching innovation, which is underpinned by three guiding principles: such as individualised coaching, a strong international dimension; and understanding of companies needs.

In 2005 EDHEC Executive entered the Financial Times rankings of Customised Executive Education for the first time with an impressive 2nd in the world for the excellence of its individual monitoring outside the classroom, and 8th worldwide with regards to client satisfaction.

The strong tailored support and teaching innovation differentiates EDHEC executive from other training courses. Each participant benefits from at least three individual tutorials as part of an Individual Development Plan while personalised support facilities such as coaching, centring among other things on decision-making and the development of managerial competencies is also a predominant feature. The aim is not only to enhance participants' capacity to make decisions but also to stimulate reflection on a professional development plan so as to rapidly implement the new knowledge gained during the course.

The choice of professors in the Executive Education unit is in-keeping with the philosophy of the programme. Many well-established professors from all around the world offer their expertise during the seminars, from Marketing, Sales, Law, Management, Strategy, Economy, Finance, to Accounting.

Bertrand Monet, from EDHEC's permanent faculty is a recognised specialist in criminal risks, and an ideal facilitator in discussions when teaching in companies such as the major European retailer, Auchan

Denis Dauchy is active in all the executive programmes and also teaches in EDHEC's Master programmes in the Management & Strategy Department. He is a major link between the corporate world and EDHEC's academic programmes. His core topics of teaching and research are: strategic analysis and management, innovative business models, complexity management, decision making process, strategy and corporate governance.

Emmanuel Metais, Dean of the Theseus-EDHEC MBA programme and a specialist in the field of Strategy teaches in the executive course offered to automobile giant Renault, providing expert input on Change Management using cognitive and perceptual biases.

These professors' flexible teaching styles adapt to more mature audiences and also to Master students, allowing them to share their specialist knowledge in a wide range of programmes.

In the spotlight: Air France - KLM in-house training by EDHEC Executive

Within this framework of executive education, an-ongoing contract with Air France and KLM has been underway since 2005 following the companies' merger and massive restructuring plans.

During the first 6 months of partnership, EHDEC and Air France managers worked together closely in order to fully understand the needs of the leading airline company - namely to prepare managers to work in today's international environment.

This managerial programme is currently offered to around 600 middle- and upper-level managers, who come not only from France but also from all over the world, Europe, Maghreb, Asia and South America to follow this customised seminar which includes training on management, strategy and change-management.

During Team Labs sessions, Air France managers are invited to share their daily problems faced in their positions and EDHEC helps them to develop their management skills. By the end of each session, participants and EDHEC faculty build best practises notes together.

Another training module in the training course is where participants in teams of 4-5 are challenged with real corporate topics for which participants analyse other companies' practises and propose solutions. At the end of each study, a report is provided to Air France top-managers for evaluation.

The portfolio of EDHEC Executive Education courses is reserved for upper-level management and organised directly with their company. The full-time Theseus-EDHEC MBA is open to all candidates who have had a minimum of three years professional experience and who wish to take the initiative to give their career a boost. Applications for this programme can be made directly to the admissions office at international.admissions@edhec.edu.For more information about the EDHEC Executive MBA and in-house training please see here.
